We finish off the course with a mid-life crisis and some debauchery. Medieval folk were not prudes. Fabliaux, popular in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries were comic, usually ribald tales, unlike the courtly romances previously studied. Dame Sirith can be considered a Fabliau and is written in play form. We will also read a small bite of The Divine Comedy and a story from the Decameron. Remember, much of the work is in translation, but can still be enjoyed.
